Abstract
The evolution of the Chilean-German scientific collaboration during the 1975-2014 period is analyzed through co-authored documents published in journals indexed by the Web of Science database. The purpose was to inquire the scientific relationship between both countries, bei ng the coauthored documents an accurate instrument to assess and quantify the scientific contact and exchange. For this analysis we related the scientific production to the historical context. Then the tendencies in terms of volume and scientific disciplines were determined. Finally, we identified the main centers that are currently collaborating between themselves. It is established that Chilean authors are increasingly orienting their research towards issues of international relevance, not necessarily linked to areas of national scientific interest.
