Abstract

Life satisfaction (LS) during adolescence can be influenced by a number of factors and physical education plays an important role in this crucial period of development. It refers to how they feel about their existence, taking into account their social relationships, their academic environment, their emotional well-being and their sense of personal achievement. This satisfaction can influence their academic performance, mental health and general well-being. Therefore, the aim of this study is to analyse life satisfaction in Spanish Physical Education students aged 6 to 18. The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SLSS) was administered to 723 students. The findings show a very similar overall level of SV according to gender. With respect to age there seems to be a negative correlation with SV, in contrast to BMI which shows no influence on SV. Regarding the location of the centre, there is a slight influence on the level of SV, but no significant differences were found. Knowing the factors that influence SV provides the educational community with tools to promote a healthy lifestyle and improve the general well-being of adolescents.
