Abstract

In the following research we will examine the graphic novel Estrella distanteby Roberto Bolaño, whose illustration was in the care of Fanny Marín and Javier Fernández, and which was published in 2018 by Alfaguara. We will do this analysis, mainly, in two senses: i) as a best seller, both for its level of production and distributive coverage and for its technical and aesthetic richness that illustrates the horror of the civil-military dictatorship in a format associated with a younger generation and an expansion of its distribution in terms of exploring new markets. ii) We will also examine this work as a product of a transmediality that problematizes the phenomenon of adaptation, since it can transform itself into a work by itself, autonomous. We will also reflect on the global character of this graphic novel and its critical power for readers unfamiliar with the horror of the Chilean military dictatorship.
