Abstract

Although there has been a substantial decrease in cardiovasculardisease (CVD) incidence in the last 2 decades, itremains the leading cause of death in Western countries.Despite a reduction in incidence, the prevalence of CVDcontinues to grow due to the increase in the aging populationin these countries. Among the modifiable factors of CVD wecan name diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. Dairyproducts are a group of heterogeneous foods with productsthat differ in water content, amount of fermentation andnutrients such as fat and sodium, and, except for low-fatdairy products, they are not seen as healthy foods in theprevention of these 2 diseases. The present work showsthe results of a meta-analysis of the last years that relatethe consumption of dairy products with diabetes and highblood pressure.
