Abstract

Within the framework of studies on higher education and the academic establishment, this article aims to recognize the perspectives of studies on performativity that have established the problems of work and academic life. For this, a literature review was designed that consisted of three stages, identifying the study topic, conducting a search in scientific databases, and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research concludes that the literature review, on one hand, accounts for different approaches to the concept of performativity and, on the other, shows the conflicts around academic activities: age differences, problems around gender inequality, sexist practices and workplace harassment, as constraints within the academy. Finally, the literature review accounts for performativity’s theoretical and practical aspects in life and academic work.
