N2 - Introduction: Community radio stations are non-profit citizen initiative media experiences. The objective of this text is to carry out a comparative descriptive study of the normative regulation of community radio broadcasting in Latin America. Methodology: Based on a documentary analysis, both of legal regulations and selected specialized reports, the regulations of the respective countries of the Region are compared to identify key aspects. Results: The text includes a systematization of the regulations that shows their temporal evolution, as well as the formal and substantive characteristics of the regulation of community radio broadcasting in Latin America. Discussion: The analysis of the results allows us to identify different regulatory trends over time and the geography of Latin America, which confirm previous findings and contribute to the construction of a balance of the regional regulatory experience. Conclusions: This study shows great differences at the geographic level, with regulatory underdevelopment in the Central American countries and with different regulatory models in the rest of the countries, which oscillate between the promotion of the sector and its marginal recognition.
