Resumen
The objective of this literature review was to examine scientific production on professional internships in social work between 2014 and 2018. The bibliographic search was conducted using Web of Science, the major online database, obtaining a sample of 34 articles in the Social Sciences and Humanities area. The analysis of the documents focused on the year of publication, the country in which the research was carried out, the methodology used, the type of participants, and an exhaustive analysis of the topics studied. The results obtained show greater scientific production during 2017, with the United States and China being at the forefront in the central theme that is the subject of this review. Furthermore, there is a predominance of studies with a qualitative methodological approach and where the main data collection technique is the interview. As for the participants, they are mostly undergraduate students. Finally, this article was focused on four topics: learning, experiences, assessment, and cognitive and socio-emotional factors linked to professional internships in social work, with the latter two being those that occur most frequently in indexed journals.
