Abstract

The aim of this research is to analyze the conceptual metaphors on teachers from two opinion columns in cyber newspapers. Both columns were published when the law about teachers' professional development was being discussed in parliament. The main characteristics of conceptual metaphor and cybernewspapers are outlined. The research is qualitative in nature and has got a descriptive and exploratory approach. The metaphor identification procedure and content analysis were used to process the data, and the metaphors the teacher is a martyr and the teacher is a cook were analyzed. Through both metaphors, teachers' working conditions and the factors of the context in which these metaphors emerge are unfolded.
